Floor tiles contain inorganic materials such as clay, calcite and feldspar, but they may also include other raw materials. Floor tiles are ceramic tiles that can be used on the floor and on the wall. KERMOS A/S floor tiles are available in a glazed finish, glossy or anti-slip surface options, in the dimensions of 5 x 5, 2,5 x 10, 3 x 10, 10 x 10, 10 x 20, 10 x 30, 15 x 15, 20 x 20 and 30 x 30 cm.
Floor tiles are baked between 1050 - 1100 °C and always glazed. The water absorption rate, which indicates the durability of the product, is between 0.5 % and 3 % for floor tiles (group BIb in accordance with DIN EN 14411). It is harder and more durable than wall tiles. So it has a higher load-bearing capacity. The breaking strength is over 1100 N for tiles over 7.5 mm thick.
The coating material on its surface is harder than wall tiles, so it wears less than wall tiles.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) covers the manufacture of 7.5 mm thick Floor tiles in Turkey, with final commissioning taking place in Osterweddingen, Germany. UN CPC code for Floor tiles is 3731. The assessment is based on the most produced tile type within the product range for 1 m² of floor tile.
